League of Friends - Charity No. 249466
The League of Friends has three main aims and they are as set out below from our Constitution:
To mobilise, encourage, foster and maintain the interest of the public in the patients, and the support of the work for the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust by means of voluntary service.
To raise funds for the benefit of patients and the nursing staffs of the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
To co-operate with all other bodies for the benefit of the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust service.
We are dedicated to raising money to help support the staff, patients and their families by running a shop in the main entrance of the hospital, as well as two T bars, one on F level, West wing, the other on A level in the oncology block as well as a trolley service throughout the wards on a daily basis. All this is done by a band of volunteers, who give their time freely. All the funds that we make, with the exception of our expenses – rent, rates etc. – go back to the hospital for requested items that will make life a little easier for staff, patients and their families.
In the last seven and a half years we have donated just under £1 million pounds.
